Smart Labour Management Systems

Harvest labour management has changed.

From 28 April 2022, producers are responsible for keeping detailed and accurate work records for employees on piecework agreements, and for managing their productivity. During harvest, this can result businesses needing to tracking the performance of hundreds of employees, and using this to make informed management decisions in real time.

Funded through AgriFutures Australia's Producer Technology Uptake Program, this project will help producers explore and implement Smart Labour Management Systems to help them track worker performance, improve labour productivity, and manage recordkeeping to demonstrate compliance with the Horticulture Award’s new piecework provisions.

Ask the experts.

Fruit Growers Tasmania hosted a workshop on 7 September 2022 at FGT head office in Hobart to help growers incorporate labour management technologies into their business.

Led by national consultant Brooke Sauer from IntellectAg, this workshop talked growers through the opportunities and challenges of smart labour management systems and shared what is convincing businesses nationally to incorporate innovative technology into their businesses.

Learning together.

Following the workshop, we organisied regional orchard / berry patch walks with producers who have adopted systems to share and learn from their experiences. Key learnings were shared to help other businesses identify, select and implement the system that works best for their business.
