Export tape
In 2022, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) confirmed it would be harmonising export tape requirements across all plant exports. Under the new requirements, exporters need to use the export tape, which features the lettering “Plant Quarantine Australia” in green font on a white background.
The department has confirmed that the 2022-23 production season is a period of transition where both new and old tape will be acceptable. However, in the 2023-24 season, the new export tape requirements will be mandatory.
If you are unsure, DAFF suggests you use the new tape.
Markets that specifically require quarantine tape are Korea and Japan for cherries and Japan and Taiwan for apples.
The new protocol market quarantine tape has arrived at Fruit Growers Tasmania and is available for purchase. Members receive a 20% discount.
Fruit Growers Tasmania export tape prices:
Member price - $7.00 / 100m roll
Non-member price - $8.75 / 100m roll
Note: Please order as much as you expect to need for the entire season, as Fruit Growers Tasmania is not able to carry stock of spare tape. Additional orders will be subject to a 2-3 week turnaround period. The price is based on your collection of tape from the FGT office.
