Fruit Growers Tasmania urges all fruit growers and the wider Tasmanian primary industries to participate in the TasTAFE Agriskills Program this winter.
Developed in conjunction with Fruit Growers Tasmania, Agriskills provides new and existing workers essential skills required by the industry and is a great career development pathway for the Agricultural and Production Horticultural industries.
Fruit Growers Tasmania held its annual conference last week with great success. An array of industry professionals, growers and researchers presented throughout the event on the latest research findings, production techniques, emerging technologies, opportunities and challenges relating to fruit production in Tasmania.
FGT recently held workshops updating Tasmanian growers on the latest labour trends influencing the industry. Growers reported favourable productivity by PALM scheme participants and expressed interest in collaborating to provide viable placements, retain skills from season to season and improve portability of key labour. There was advice also for growers engaging with the PALM scheme via an approved Labour Hire company.
