Government to support fresh produce buyers to visit Tasmania

Fruit Growers Tasmania | Thursday, 2 October 2025, 6.00pm

Fruit Growers Tasmania is delighted to support the Tasmanian Government’s fresh produce inward buyer visit to Tasmania during 12 - 16 January 2026.

“It is great that the State Government has agreed to host buyers from key export markets to visit Tasmania in the peak of Tasmania’s harvest season for both fresh fruit and vegetables,” said Peter Cornish, CEO of Fruit Growers Tasmania. “It really is the best time for importers and retailers to see the Tasmanian fruit industry in full swing.”

Trade Tasmania is coordinating the event and currently seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for overseas buyers to participate. The EOI process closes on Wednesday 15 October 2025.

The bespoke four day visit will cover the growing regions in the south, north and northwest of the State. As part of the offer Trade Tasmania will support buyers’ costs of accommodation, transport, and meals whilst on the buyer visit.

Fruit Growers Tasmania is encouraging overseas buyers to submit an EOI to Trade Tasmania and see firsthand the harvesting of cherries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Peter added, “There won’t be a better opportunity to visit the state when all our fruit is on display!”

Last month Fruit Growers Tasmania undertook back to back tradeshows at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong and then at Fine Foods Australia in Sydney. “It was a busy couple of weeks showcasing Tasmanian fresh fruit in market,” commented Peter.

“There is tremendous interest in Tasmanian produce both within the domestic market and overseas and the upcoming inward buyers visit will give growers the opportunity to showcase their operations and the quality of the produce here in Tasmania.”

Buyers interested in submitting an EOI are encouraged to visit the Trade Tasmania website, for more information.
