Resilient Farming Tas Lunch & Learn Webinar Series

Resilient Farming Tas (RFT) are hosting a Tuesday Lunch and Learn Webinar Series throughout November and December. Timed for 45 minutes, the first half of the webinar will focus on a knowledge exchange, with an opportunity for you to then have a Q&A with the experts.  These events are FREE to attend and will guide you through resources and tools available through the RFT Program.

  • Tuesday, 8 October 2024 - Using partial budgeting in your farm business
    Facilitated by Tristan Wardley, Sasha Brightman and Morag Anderson
    Every farm business wants to learn more about being smart when it comes to managing money and making good financial decisions. Using their applied experience working with farmers and agribusiness, Tristan, Sasha and Morag will demonstrate how to use a tool called a ‘partial budget’ to evaluate the potential financial impact of a proposed change to farm operations. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A where you can ask any other finance or business management related questions of our facilitators.
  • Tuesday, 12th November 2024 - Risk Management vs Crisis/Disaster
    Facilitated by Allison Clark and Belinda Hazell
    Between them, Allison and Belinda have over 40 years’ experience in helping farmers to identify risks and find the best ways to avoid and mitigate risks before they arise. Crisis events that Allison and Belinda have direct experience in managing include natural disaster, financial, workplace safety, pandemic, and food safety recall. Learn the difference between risk management and managing crisis/disaster events.
  • Tuesday, 19th November 2024 Feral Deer Management
    Facilitated by Sasha Brightman and Doris Blaesing
    Feral deer present a significant threat to farming operations across Tasmania, economically and environmentally. This webinar is about why deer are an issue and the impacts; the current situation and what is or isn’t being done to manage this problem; what you can do to manage the risk on your farm; and useful resources and tools, including an example pest management plan. Come along to learn about your options and some ideas on what you can do in your business to mitigate against this risk.
  • Tuesday, 26th November 2024 Whole Farm Budgeting
    Facilitated by Tristan Wardley and Sasha Brightman
    Tristan is an agricultural economist and is excited to be able to take you through the approach to  ‘whole farm’ budgeting from developing a gross margin budget, to livestock reconciliations and balance sheets. You will walk away with a better understanding of how to ‘manage the numbers’ so you can stay informed and on top of your business position. There will also be a useful spreadsheet tool you can then apply in your own farm business.

    ‘Carbon without the jargon’ - Finally! Hear from a 20 year agribusiness professional on how farm emissions and carbon markets really impact you. What are the actions you should take, pitfalls to avoid and short cuts to success.
