Workshop: labour changes for employers (Launceston)

2022 saw the introduction of changes to key laws governing how horticultural businesses can employ workers. The last of these changes will come into force by 1 July 2023, and businesses have a responsibility to understand and comply with the new laws.

Tailored for small employers, administrators and HR staff, the workshop will cover:

• Changes to the Fair Work Act, including advertising jobs, changes to how worker underpayment claims are handled, workplace agreements and industrial action
• Changes to the Hort Award, and how businesses are adapting to the new piecework provisions, and why growing numbers of businesses are adopting Smart Labour Systems to help them streamline record keeping and labour management decision-making.
• The national Fair Farms program, which provides support, training and retailer-recognised certification to comply with the Modern Anti-Slavery Act.
